BIO
An emerging artist working in acrylics, mixed media and collage, Cathryn is mainly inspired by the female form and portraiture. Other subjects of interest include landscapes, abstracts and whimsical birds.
Her paintings merge realism with abstraction and tend towards expressive and experimental modes of representation. Cathryn defines her work as a continuous exploration and expansion of a vision of female portraiture and form as a fusion of psychology, desire and inner life.
Since beginning to paint during COVID and moving to North Carolina at the end of 2020, her work has been exhibited in It’s All Art 2021, 2022, and 2023 (Leland), Art Fall 2021 (Wilmington), Sunset Vision Annual Art Show 2023 (Sunset Beach, N.C.), and the Cameron Museum (Wilmington).
April 2023—Cathryn’s series of “Window Portraits” was exhibited in the lobby of the Brunswick Little Theater in Southport, North Carolina. These paintings were designed to be an extension of the set for Tennessee Williams´ classic play, The Glass Menagerie.
A member of the Art League of Leland, Cathryn also serves on the Board and the Communication Team.
